NACC Quebec Leaving Eisenhower Lock

NACC Quebec Leaving Eisenhower Lock

Well, this photo is not great art, but that is the way it goes. It is here because it is a little bit interesting. The ship on the right is the NACC Quebec and it it is shown leaving the Eisenhower Lock on the St. Lawrence Seaway in June of 2021.

The Eisenhower Lock is located just outside of Massena, New York. At the time of the photo was snapped the visitor center was closed, however the large viewing area on the north side was readily available. If you visit when the visitor center is open you will be in for a treat as you will not contend with the fences blocking your view.

According to the online ship information Web sites, and there are several worth checking, the NACC Quebec was built in 2011 in Turkey. It was originally named Tenace, but it seems that the name changed occurred when the ship was converted to a cement carrier. It is about 456 feet long and nearly 60 feet wide, that is, the beam is nearly 60 feet.

Let’s keep it “nautical”, eh?
