Color photography is fabulous. As a technical innovation, it was many, many steps ahead of any photo advancements that had come before. But, frankly, there are times when going back to the “old days” of black and white. As you may know, many professional photographers prefer black and white. Even …
Unfortunately, I do not remember where or when the photo was taken. It might have been on the Wilmington & Western line in the late 1990s. Scanned from 35mm slide and mildly Photoshopped to correct color errors.
I have rejoined 1980 or was it 1982? Attached is the very cool Akai CS-MO1A cassette deck that magically appeared on my doorstep having been delivered by the little elf in the white van. In other words, the guy from FedEx. It works extremely well and sounds great, for a …
Morris the dog and Uni the cat enjoy some quiet time on the sofa
It seems like some people just cannot get along.
But our dog pal, Morris, was not like that. He had a large number of friends of all persuasions. In this photograph we see him with one of his closest pals, Uni the cat. Like Morris, Uni was rescued from dire circumstances. He came to live in a nice warm home, and when Morris moved in after his dramatic rescue, Uni was a one-cat welcoming committee.
From the very moment they met, they were friends. They often spent time together, exactly like you see in this photograph. In fact, very often when Morris went upstairs to the second floor Uni would follow him. Later, when Uni went back downstairs Morris went along, too.
Morris and Uni did not argue or say bad words to each other. I am not sure if they agreed on all topics and points of discussion, but if they had their differences it did not show. These two friends never had a disagreement.

Back in the warmer days of last fall I was wandering through Howard Amon Park in Richland, Washington and came across this rather stunning site. The American Empress is one of several small capacity cruise ships that have been exploring the Columbia and Snake Rivers in recent years. Rather stunning, …
Little Lexi the cat experienced her first HO train running around the tree the other evening, and this is the result. It is not as good as catnip, but Lexi agrees that the train is pretty good after all.
Retired United Boeing 727 at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The 727 was one of the most popular aircraft of its day. It is hard to miss the three rear-mounted engines, especially the center one with the intake above the fuselage and the exhaust under the tail.
