Travel Again, A Little Bit

Well, now that the pandemic is winding down a little bit, it is time to get out of the house if we can find the door. In this case we took a short trip to Robert Moses State Park in Massena, New York. This is not to be confused with the park of the same name on Long Island.

The park is on the St. Lawrence River. In fact, the river is on one side and the St. Lawrence Seaway is on the other. You can watch the big ships go through the Eisenhower Locks, and that is very interesting.

The photo here shows Cabin 11. If you are not into the tent or RV thing, a cabin is the way to go. Cabin in this state park feature kitchens with stoves and refrigerators, sinks, and so forth. Ours even had a microwave oven. Cabin 11 had two bedrooms and a large-ish living area.

In the camping area, the tent sites are all nicely maintained with flat grassy areas, fire pits, picnic tables, and so forth. They all seem to be comfortable with decent spacing. You can’t go too wrong here with a tent, if you like tents.

There’s tons of stuff to do in or near the park. There’s a nature center, the big power dam visitor center, a marina in the park, beaches, and, or course, just hanging out.
