The Ventures Triple Play!

The Ventures Triple Play!

A great day recently! A friend is moving and decided that she had too many record albums. Oh, can that really be a problem? Knowing that I am a Ventures fan (Tacoma’s favorite rock band, you know) she offered to send me her three albums.

Who am I to say “no”?

The group that arrived consisted of Walk Don’t Run, the Ventures first album from 1960. The disc itself is in excellent condition and required very little cleaning. So far it has been played, well, quite a bit on the Zenith record player, and it sounds great! It is no wonder that the band was such a knockout.

Another LP in the batch was Another Smash from 1961. Like the first album, this one was also in excellent condition and played very, very well on the Zenith. I had the opportunity to play this disc on the Technics SP-15 and it was spectacular. The first track is “Ghost Riders In The Sky”, and that really shows of the excitement of the band.

Also in the batch was Swamp Rock from 1969. The Ventures apparently went a little “south” this time. One of the track is “Green River” and it is sort of like Credence Clearwater Revival done in the surf. You have to hear it to understand. Yes, it is fun.

If you aren’t familiar with the Ventures, check them out.
