Venice Pier and the surfers on an overcast day
Venice Pier and the Surfers

One of my fav things to do in SoCal is to go to the Venice Pier at the west end of Washington Boulevard in (obviously) Venice.

On this cloudy day the pier had the usual crowd of fisher-folk along with the dog-walkers, tourists, local residents, and birds. The little black dots in the water are surfers. The water is cold, and the surfers are all wearing wet suits. We didn’t see much actual surfing, but there was quite a bit of waiting around.

The water is cold, but despite the overcast the weather was warm, the upper 60s, as a matter of fact. Not matter what the weather, there probably is not such thing as a bad day at Venice.

If you are not sure where the Venice Pier is, check the map below.
