In my last post I mentioned acquiring Islands by The Band. At about the same time I was able to obtain a copy of The Door’s LP L.A. Woman. Unfortunately, this particular record was more or less (mostly more, come to thing of it) mishandled and as more than a few snaps, crackles and pops due to improper care.
But, still, it IS The Doors sixth album and has several of their most popular cuts. If you listen to the Classic Rock formatted FM radio stations you will be hearing Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman, and The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) regularly. Oh, and don’t forget Riders On The Storm.
Many of the tracks on this LP are very bluesy, and you can hear influences from several different genres. What I did not know until I started researching this record was that the Riders On The Storm arrangement is based on Vaughn Monroe’s famous Ghost Rider’s In The Sky.
Anyway, this record has been making the rotation here in the Famous HiFi Lair regularly.
